“Then Become Israelstine, Who Knows?”

As far as the Middle East goes, I’m just getting more and more pessimistic.

The Palestinian Authority is demanding a strict schedule of how negotiations towards agreement will go following the upcoming summit in Annapolis.  Israeli intelligence is predicting that the current Palestinian leadership doesn’t have the strength needed to implement an agreement, and will fall apart if no agreement is reached.  And some key Israeli hardliners who are in the ruling coalition are threatening to pull out if an agreement includes precisely the kinds of thing that will make it acceptable to Palestinians.

A recipe for success.   What could possibly go wrong?

And like I’ve said before, it’s pretty reasonable to doubt that there will just be endless chances to seal a deal.  The status quo can’t continue.
